Find your anchors

Some things in life rarely change. There are familiar places, familiar sights and familiar feelings. There are places we walk on a routine stroll or perhaps a special person we speak to on a regular basis. These regular events and places form our world. They become anchors that can hold us down or release us. These are our anchors that keep us grounded. They are permanent reminders to be grateful and can be used to push us onto better things or be used as reminders of different chapters of our life.

Must have been a big bite of news

When you want to break a habit, it’s often recommended to break your routines. Create new ones, and to be active in what and how you do things. It is recommended to use these anchors to propel you on a new path, one that is not easily distracted from its goals. Do you have any routines that are unhelpful? How could you replace them with ones that best align with your desired path?

Always choose the path that smells less foul

Anchors can also be remembered as a strong base of skills that we can fall back on. A runner can run a certain mile, no matter the day. A good storyteller will always have a tale or two up his sleeve, just as a magician will always have a rabbit up his. It’s good to hold onto these things. To push our anchors to new heights and to build our base. To move the unknown to the known.

  1. It takes 7 days to break a habit. Try driving to work a different way each day.
