Just go for it

If you’re scared of getting punched in the face, the best medication can sometimes be getting punched in the face. There’s a reason why it’s commonly said you should face your fears. But you shouldn’t just face them, you should choose to face them. You should chase them. You should develop a steadfast mindset where your fears are actively hunted down and vanquished. You don’t choose to, it’s simply part of your framework for life.

Never headbutt a man with a glowing head

If every time you run from your fears, the next time you see that thing, your brain automatically thinks of running. It looks for escape. It’s a mindset that you build and you develop. To take everything head on, or to run away. And it’s not just your classic fear of heights or spiders that I’m referring to, but events that make you feel that heart pounding energy. It’s shying away from that promotion or being unable to close the deal in the business meeting. It’s not speaking up when you know you’re right. It’s all those moments where you mustn't give yourself a choice but to take things headfirst and steadfast.

I still prefer them squished

So go make the tackle, kick the crazy set shot. Take some risk and make a move. The chance it pays off can far outweigh keeping your hand down and miss being chosen next time. At least if you fail, you’ll know what it feels like. Face your fears enough and one day you might not have any. You’ll be able to come off better the next go around. A 10% chance of success is still good 10% of the time.
