Don't do it this year
What are you going to start doing this year? What are your plans, goals and ambitions? The new year comes around and we can get swept up in planning for the new and exciting. After the new years disillusion wears off, resolutions are broken and goals that were once realistic now seem lofty and ambitious. It can be daunting pushing towards the unknown. So instead, perhaps we should simply pick something not to do this year. Cross it off completely. Stand your ground a little bit more and say no. It’s much easier not to do something, than it is to do it.
This year, don't stick your head in the fence! |
When you push to some new ambitious goal and it doesn’t work out, there are plenty of excuses for why it didn’t. It was too hard, too complicated, and there wasn't enough time to figure out what to do. Now try and find excuses for why you didn’t do something, you’ll find it a lot harder.
Just ignore physics, it's that easy |
This year I’m not going to miss a day of doing at least a push up and a sit up. In doing so, I'm going to build up a great base. How could I not achieve this goal? It’s not crazy ambitious, and it’s not outcome focused. I can’t feel bad, and it frames these activities as something that must always be done. Therefore, how could I not do what I am already doing? Maybe your goal is to not skip the steps, or to not buy things that aren’t written on your grocery list. Whatever it is, just make sure you don’t do it.
